Upgrade for owners of the Boris Continuum Image Restoration, Motion Key, Optical Stabilizer, or UpRez Units
Boris Continuum Image Restoration Unit includes powerful filters for smoothing and softening image clips, removing flicker, repairing bad pixels, and removing aliasing or jaggies from images. BCC Smooth Tone is an "electronic makeup" tool for saving shots with skin blemishes or substandard makeup while preserving sharpness and full image detail. With BCC Flicker Fixer, BCC Pixel Fixer, and BCC DV Fixer, you can fix flicker and auto-iris issues, remove damaged pixels or dust, and eliminate jaggies and compression artifacts from DV footage. BCC Motion Key is the ultimate in "clean plate"-generating tools, removing moving objects from static shots. With BCC UpRez, scaling from SD to HD, HD to 2K, or even 2K to 4K is possible while maintaining image integrity. BCC Noise Reduction smoothes out noise from camera images without losing detail. BCC Wire Remover helps with removing rigging and staging wires from a shot.
These valuable post-production tools are a "must-have" for all editors!
Image Restoration Unit includes the following BCC filters:

Video Tutorial: Put Electronic Makeup On Your Talent
BCC Smooth Tone smoothes or softens an image while preserving the important detail contrast areas. With the advent of HD image technology, an image result may often be "too sharp". What this means is that certain areas in the image, such as the pores on a subject's skin, may become too prominent. The Smooth Tone filter applies a complex image smoothing-algorithm to these areas in the image but does not affect extreme specular highlights or catch-lights. This results in smoother skin tones while preserving important areas of detail contrast.
More Information (PDF) Pixel Fixer
BCC Pixel Fixer repairs pixels in the image that are the result of dust on a camera lens or imaging sensor. Digital video and still photography, while making it easier to have immediate access to source material, come with some disadvantages versus film source material. One common problem / disadvantage is with the camera's image sensor. Sometimes pixels on the sensor stop working - with the result of "bad" pixels in the image. Instead of clone-painting to remove or disguise the bad pixel in each frame, the BCC Pixel Fixer automates this process. Simply center one of the source points in the filter over the bad pixel and it is removed from every frame in the clip. This fast-to-render filter includes source points to remove up to 10 "bad" pixels per filter instance.

Video Tutorial: Repair DV Footage
BCC DV Fixer is designed to soften or remove diagonal stair-step artifacts (aka jaggies) from an image clip while protecting other areas of the image from the softening process. The filter uses proprietary algorithms to detect visible aliased diagonal edges that are typically found in DV video clips and then processes the pixels only along these edges to achieve a smooth artifact-free result. The filter is easy to use and features on-screen view modes, which are accessible via a convenient pop-up menu option within the filter user interface; this enables you to fine-tune the detected jaggy edges prior to performing any image processing.

Many Boris Continuum Complete filters harness the unmatched processing power of modern GPU engines to create stunning visual effects. Almost any graphics card released during the past three years will provide the features necessary to run OpenGL-accelerated Boris Continuum Complete filters. Below is a partial list of graphics cards we have tested in our labs. However, newer versions of these NVIDIA and ATI cards will also be suitable for use with Boris Continuum Complete.
NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500, 1700, 1800, 3450, 3500, 3700, 3800, 4500, 4600, 5500, 5600
NVIDIA Quadro 2000, 4000, 5000
NVIDIA GeForce 6800, 7800, 7900, 7950, 8600, 8800
ATI FireGL V3300 and up, V5200 and up, V7200 and up, V8600 and up
ATI Radeon x1900, x1950
We recommend that you run the latest graphics card driver version supported by your host application.
In addition, for HD editing, we suggest a graphics card with a minimum of 512MB of RAM; 1GB of RAM would be recommended.
